• What is meant by CV?

CV (curriculum vitae) derived from Latin word for “course of life”CV is a document detailing your professional and academic life, all your major and noticeable achievements .which includes all the achievement in the academic &professional field, including research, publication, affiliations, awards, and so on.

• What is meant by resume?

Resume is a version of this document enlisting the same details but only focus on academic history and Achievements’.

• This is only specific for job profile & hence includes. The information which is relevant to the targeted Profiles

• Criteria of a Resume should be?

a. Select a resume format

Mainly there are three standard resume formats

1. chronological,

2. functional, and

3. hybrid

1. Chronological:

Chronological format used for job seeker with highly relevant work.

2. Functional:                     

Functionalformat used for job seeker with no work experience (mainly fresher’s)

3. Hybrid:

Hybridformat used for who has experience and skills, mostly for job seeker.

b. Add your name and contact information

iv. Professional Email address (mandatory)

v. Create a strong LinkedIn profile URL ( mandatory)

✓ A Resume summary statement is a short paragraph at the beginning of a resume that highlights a job seeker’s professional skills and experience.

Difference between resume summary & objective summary

Resume summary: Resume summaries are used for job seekers who have years of work experience in the same field (and will be continuing in the field), as they help organize and focus years of relevant job experience.

Objective resume: Objective resume is the introduction statement you are familiar with.

Example: To secure a challenging position in a reputable Organization to expand my learning’s, knowledge, and skills.

✓ The first thing a recruiter look on your resume is job title for what purpose you are applying for it.

✓ Each job should be in reverse-chronological order.

h. Optimize your resume for applicant tracking system(ATS)

 Now a day’s ATS applicant becomes easy for tracking off your resumes to dozens of jobs, many ATS allow recruiters to search by keywords.

I. Check your grammer and formatting

✓ Always write resume in a unique style

✓ Remember which tense to use or when (& why) to omit pronouns.

✓ Use font style properly. that is easy to read ATS compatible

✓ Avoid using script fonts

✓ Don’t use font size below 10

✓ Use past tense when talking about jobs in the past and present tense when describing the work you are currently doing.

An ATS is software that is used for managing your hiring and recruitment process. And it is a quick process for candidate management.

✓ keep concise: use keywords & bullets

✓ choose reverse- chronological resume format

✓ keep it neat and well-formatted

✓ Use a professional font style and size: use a professional font such as Arial, Tahoma, century gothic, times new roman etc.

The don’ts

✓ Don’t include too much irrelevant information

✓ forget to update your contact details

✓ add too many colors and distractions

✓ make your CV longer than 2 pages

✓ If you are planning to go abroad or other country you must have to check what is expected in the country.

✓ Different countries have different rules and regulations.
